Should you give a Shorts promotion service access to your YouTube channel?

Quick answer: Never give a promotion service your password or sign-in codes. If someone must work inside your channel, invite them in YouTube Studio under Settings → Permissions with the narrowest role that fits; you can remove it at any time. Distribution on other channels needs no access at all: zephyrmedia's network service only needs your ready Shorts and your channel link.

Why should you never share your password?

Your password plus a sign-in code is the whole channel. Whoever has them can change the recovery email and phone, lock you out, delete videos or sell the channel. No legitimate service needs them: YouTube Studio has permissions precisely so other people can work on a channel through their own Google account.

Turn on 2-Step Verification. Never read a sign-in code to anyone, type your password into a page someone sent you, or install a tool a promoter says you need to connect your channel.

What is the Manager role in YouTube Studio?

YouTube Studio lets a channel owner invite people by email and give each one a role. The invited person works through their own Google account, so your password never changes hands and you stay the owner.

Manager is the broadest role short of ownership, meant for people who help run the channel. Narrower roles exist, such as Editor and Viewer, including limited versions that hide revenue data. Ask any service which role it needs and why, and give the narrowest one that fits the job.

What is the difference between a password, a role and no access?

Three ways a service can work with your channel
ArrangementWhat they can doHow you end itVerdict
Your password and sign-in codesEverything you can, including locking you outChange the password and sign out every session, if you still canNever
A role in YouTube StudioWhat the role allows, through their own Google accountRemove them in Settings → PermissionsFine for work inside your channel; give the narrowest role
No accessNothing inside your channelNothing to removeEnough for distribution on other channels

How do you remove someone's access?

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio with the owner account.
  2. Open Settings, then Permissions.
  3. Find the person, open the menu next to their role and remove their access. Cancel any invitations you no longer want.
  4. Check that your videos, playlists and channel details look the way you left them.

Then review the apps connected to your Google Account in its security settings, and remove any you do not use.

When does a service really need access?

Only when it works on your channel itself: uploading, scheduling, or editing titles and descriptions. zephyrmedia's own-channel service is an example: it publishes one Short a day on your channel for $589/mo, so you add the studio as a Manager in YouTube Studio, with no password, and can remove it at any time. A service that only needs to see results can work from screenshots or a Viewer role.

Why doesn't network distribution need access to your channel?

Because nothing happens on your channel. With zephyrmedia's network plans, your Shorts are published on niche channels operated by the studio and credited to you with an @mention. You send the ready files and your channel link; the studio never logs in to your channel, never asks for your password and changes nothing in your YouTube Studio. See how niche channel distribution works, or start with the $49 test run.

What warning signs should you watch for?

  • Requests for your password, sign-in codes or recovery details.
  • Software, browser extensions or files you must install to connect your channel.
  • Requests to make them an owner or to transfer the channel.
  • Guaranteed views or subscribers for a fee.
  • Vagueness about where your Shorts will appear, or pressure to pay before anything is agreed.

Want to see how your own Shorts do with viewers in your niche? The zephyrmedia test run is $49 once: 10 ready Shorts × 3 channels · 30 publications over 7 days. Channel fit is confirmed before you pay, and nothing renews.

What else do creators ask?

Is it safe to add someone as a Manager on my YouTube channel?

It is far safer than sharing a password: they use their own Google account, and you can remove them at any time in YouTube Studio's permissions settings. It is still a broad role, so give it only to people you trust and only for as long as the work needs it.

Does zephyrmedia need access to my YouTube channel?

Not for network distribution: the studio publishes your Shorts on its own niche channels and needs only your ready Shorts and channel link. The own-channel service, $589/mo, publishes on your channel, so you add zephyrmedia as a Manager in YouTube Studio, with no password and revocable at any time.

What should I do if I already shared my password?

Change it now, turn on 2-Step Verification, sign out of sessions you do not recognise, and check the recovery email and phone. Then review who is listed in YouTube Studio's permissions, and remove third-party apps you do not use from your Google Account.

Can a service see my analytics without access?

Only what you choose to share. You can send screenshots or exported numbers, or give a Viewer role, which shows channel data without letting anyone change it. For network distribution the numbers come from the posts on the publishing channels, so your analytics are not needed.
